Here are some of your hair color questions:
How do I make sure the hair color I use doesn’t make my hair turn orange?
Our hair has a natural warm pigmentation. Every time you do a lightening process, whether by bleaching or coloring, those warm pigmentations will appear. The best way to avoid them is by neutralization and this can be achieved by using cool shade colorants like L’Oréal Professionnel’s Majifashion 6.11 or Majifashion 8.11.
Another easy way to neutralize the warm colors is by using L’Oréal Professionnel Serie Expert Silver Duo to help you remove those brassy colors while maintaining the perfect tone of bleached hair with a boost of shine.
Why are my roots always a lighter shade when I color my hair?
One possibility for this concern is your choice of hair color because it could be lighter than your previous color. Another potential reason could be the developer because you might have used a stronger developer than what your hair requires. Timing could also be another factor for lighter roots; the standard processing time for the hair color product to be on your hair should only be 35 minutes. Finally, the application process could also be another possibility. Our body produces natural heat and the heat can make the colorant process faster, which can cause hot roots.
The best way is to apply the product at least 1 inch away from the scalp. Read more about DIY hair coloring here.
How come my hair color fades so fast? How long does hair color last?
Color fading is caused by multiple factors - the mixture of your products, misapplication, or the incorrect timing of the products on your hair. However, the most common causes of color fading are the washing of hair, constant exposure to sun, or external aggressors like pollution.
If you want to protect your hair color from fading, try using L’Oréal Professionnel’s Vitamino Color Masque! It’s enriched with caring ingredients that eliminate impurities, protect colored hair, and leaves hair looking healthy and vibrant.
How can I lighten my hair without bleach?
Lightening your hair without bleaching is definitely possible, as long as you use high lifting colorants. Colorants have the ability to lighten the color of your hair up until a certain degree only. However, this would ultimately depend on how light you want your hair to be. If you desire a light blonde to silver-colored hair, you would need to bleach your hair to achieve those shades.
Any tips for choosing the right shades for grey hair?
For 100% of white or grey hair coverage, it’s best to choose from shades that are dark brown and brown, like Majicover 4, 5, or 6. These colorants contain more pigments that can actually cover your grey hair.
We hope we got to answer all big questions about hair color, enough for you to feel confident about coloring your hair at home. As always, with hair color, the best results will still come from a salon professional. But it’s always good to have your own tools, hair colors, and hair knowledge, even if you’re having someone else do it for you.
